The contract was ratified by an overwhelming majority. Now is the time to get involved to make your workplace what you want it to be. Each of you, COLLECTIVELY, can make a big difference in the next three years, if we work together!
Your Negotiating Team did a wonderful job in representing you. All of the time spent negotiating was voluntary. You can donate PTO hours to help offset the wages lost by going on-line to get a Donation form. Please turn these into HR, WSNA will collect and divide the proceeds to the Team members.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Your Negotiating Team and Management have reached a tentative agreement on your new contract. Mark your calendars with the following dates so you can vote on the proposed contract, April 29, 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the Memorial Campus, Fir Willow Room; 5:30pm until 8:00pm at the Medical Center in Conference Rooms 3 & 4. And April 30 from 7:00am until 8:45am in Conference Rooms 3 & 4 at the Medical Center.
Only dues-paying members can vote or hold office. You still have time to fill out your application for membership and send it to the office. Applications will be available at the door also.
Collectively, you, the nurses at SWMC, have a very strong voice!
Isn't it time to stand together for the greater good?

Your Negotiating Team met with management on March 4th and 5th. As posted on your units, WSNA presented our total proposal on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Management came to the Table with a partial proposal and some responses. We reached a tentative agreement on several items on Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday, March 11th, we are expecting to have Management's entire proposal. We will be meeting on March 12th also. Look at your WSNA Bulleting Board for an update after each negotiating session. You will also find that same information right here online.
Your Negotiating Team has spent many hours of their time in preparing for negotiations, as well as time spent at the Table with Management to get you the best possible wages and working conditions. We are asking each of you to donate an hour or two of your CAL time to help offset their time loss. See HR or one of your Local Unit Officers or Negotiating Team members for forms.

You should have received a salmon colored nomination form in the mail last week. We are concerned that this may have created some confusion, as we mistakenly neglected to include instructions or explanation.
It is time for the Southwest Washington Medical Center Local Unit to hold an election of officers! If you are interested in holding office, please put your name on the nomination form that you received and send it back to the WSNA office. When the forms are returned to the office, they will be checked to make sure the person nominated is willing to serve and is a member in good standing. The list of names will be posted on the Units for 15 days, and you will then be sent a ballot that needs to be filled out and returned to the WSNA office, where the ballots will be counted.
Remember, only dues paying members can hold office. Only dues paying members can vote. If you are not presently a dues paying member, this would be a good time to join. As the saying goes, "The time is always RIGHT to do the RIGHT thing."
Be sure to look for negotiation updates that will be posted here. Washington State Nurses Association will be presenting our initial proposal on March 4th. A postcard will be sent after the second session on March 5th. If you have further questions, please contact one of your Local Unit Officers; Shayne Yocum, Madeleine Ormond, Christie Riley, Pat Moeller,
Terry Joyce, Eileen Higbie or Marcia Bryan. Additionally, you can contact Pat McClure, WSNA Nurse Rep. at (206) 575-7979, ext. 3110.
