Caring for victims of violence with a multidisciplinary approach

Alaska Nurses Association is jointly providing with the Academy of Forensic Nursing and the University of Alaska Anchorage College of Health a regional conference with emphasis on promotion and expansion of forensic health care.

Interpersonal violence takes many forms and may include physical, sexual, psychological, emotional and financial abuse across the lifespan. Our current practices are typically focused on specialty responses to sexual assault and domestic violence. The goal of this conference is to promote and expand the use of health care providers with forensic training to better serve persons who have been harmed by violence.

  • Trauma Informed Care
  • Elder Care Abuse
  • Building Resiliency
  • Forensic Healthcare Response

Continuing Education Credits:

Nurses: This training offers fourteen (14) nursing contact hours through the Alaska Nurses Association, an approved provider of continuing nursing education by Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Social Workers: The University of Alaska Anchorage School of Social Work has approved this activity for Social Work Contact hours.

Physicians: Application for Physician credits has been submitted. Determination of credits is pending.

Target Audience:

Health and Social Service Professionals, Public Health, Health Administrators, First Responders, Law Enforcement, Victims Advocates and Community Members.

Registration Options:

Participants may attend just one or both days either in person or online via Zoom. Online is limited to those outside of Anchorage. Fee is dependent upon selection.

  • 2 day in-person (full conference): $200
  • 1 day in-person (either Wed or Thurs): $125
  • 2 day online (outside of Anchorage only): $100
  • 1 day online (outside of Anchorage only): $75
