Free online information session on student loan forgiveness for nurses in Pierce County

August 20, 2022

10:00am–11:30am

Loan forgiveness

More than 45 million people in the United States are struggling to make their monthly student loan payments, and millions more see economic and personal opportunities pass as they prioritize paying down their debt. Does this sound like you or someone you know?

Many nurses qualify for free federal programs that can help reduce their monthly payments and eventually lead to student loan forgiveness, but these lifeline programs are significantly under-enrolled. Thanks to new rules just put in place by the Department of Education, many folks who thought loan forgiveness was out of reach are now finding that it is finally within grasp.

To help nurses in Pierce County get access to these programs and understand these new rules, WSNA is hosting an information session which will provide information on:

  • How to lower your payments, sometimes to $0, through enrolling in income-driven repayment programs
  • The newly expanded Department of Education rules for loan forgiveness
  • How to meet the requirements for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, which will get your debt forgiven, tax free, after ten years of payments

We will also be providing a FREE online tool for WSNA members to help educate you about your options and manage your student debt. This clinic will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a .m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

To register, go to https://go.aft.org/StudentDebtClinicRSVP. When you register, select Washington State Nurses Association from the “Student Debt Clinic” dropdown menu. An organizer will be in contact with you about the online details and some pre-registration questions. This event is open to all nurses in the Pierce County area, not just WSNA members, so invite your friends and colleagues in the area. Only 50 spots available!
