Get involved

Hilke Faber speaks with her legislator, Rebecca Saldaña, about WSNA's priority issues for the 2020 Legislative Session. (Feb. 6, 2020)

As nurses you are a deeply trusted and valued part of our society. There are tens of thousands of you in this state and what you have to say matters.

The lives you care for every day are put at risk when facilities do not give you the support and respect you deserve to be able to do your jobs.

Whether it's wages, staffing ratios, meal and rest breaks, or other fights we are bringing to Olympia, you have the trust of the public and the numbers to make legislators listen and do the right thing, and we want to help you win these fights.

There are a number of ways in which you can be involved and effective. Please let us know below which ways you are interested in helping us win this fight. Together, we are louder. Together, we are stronger.

  1. Tell us what you’re interested in. What issues are important to you? Send a message to our Political Advocacy Manager, Jessica Hauffe, and she will be in contact with you to help plug you in to the work Government Affairs is doing on behalf of WSNA nurses.
  2. Learn about your legislators. (Identify your state legislators here!)
  3. Join the PAC!
  4. Attend Advocacy 101 Camp, designed especially for nursing students! You’ll get an introduction to what it means to be a “nurse advocate” and earn Continuing Education (CE) credits.
