More ways to help Louisiana flood victims

The Louisiana Nurses Association and AFT both have opened relief funds to help those affected by the flooding in Louisiana.

The Louisiana State Nurses Association and the Louisiana Nurses Foundation are partnering to reactivate the Nurse Relief Fund. They have launched an official GoFundMe page to receive online donations.

The executive Director of the Louisiana Nurses Association shared this message:

As many Louisianians struggle to get back on their feet and recover from the historic flooding across South Louisiana, it is important we remember and support the countless nurses impacted. These individuals are not only working as essential personnel with recovery but are also facing their own personal devastation unlike anything seen since the 2005 hurricanes.

AFT, with which WSNA is affiliated, also has a relief fund for victims of the Louisiana flooding. AFT shared this message:

Our members in Louisiana are dealing with yet another devastating natural disaster resulting from the recent severe storms and massive flooding. The flooding has caused at least 13 deaths and damaged or destroyed more than 60,000 homes, as well as many schools and businesses.
In times of crisis, we open the AFT Disaster Relief Fund to collect donations for our members and their families in need. This is one of those times. We started the fund after Hurricane Katrina and have since helped members affected by Superstorm Sandy, by tornadoes in Oklahoma and Illinois, and other disasters. Now our members in Louisiana need help to rebuild their homes and communities, so I want to encourage you to share this link to our donation page with your members: https://www.aft.org/disaster-relief-fund.
