Tentative Agreement Reached at Toppenish!

After months of hard work and dedication, your WSNA bargaining team is proud to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement (TA) on a new three-year contract at Astria Toppenish Hospital!
This agreement represents meaningful progress in wages, working conditions, and protections for nurses achieved through the strength and unity of our bargaining unit.
While details will be shared in full before the ratification vote, here are some of the major highlights:
💰 Wage Increases
- Average 6% increase at ratification (varies by step and effective date is the first full pay period after ratification)
- 3.5% increase in year two
- 3.25% increase in year three
- Lump-sum bonuses ($500 after ratification, $1000 in 2026)
- Addition of steps and removal of all ghost steps
🕒 Meal and Rest Break Protections
- Strengthened language to ensure lawful meal and rest breaks for all nurses
- Department-level flexibility in managing break coverage while maintaining compliance with state law
- Commitment for the Staffing Committee to review and make recommendations for each department’s break and meal plan following ratification
💵 Premium Pay Improvements
- Shift Differential: $4.50 (nights)
- Charge Nurse Pay: $3.00 (days)
- Preceptor Pay: $2.00
🩺 New Language for SANE nurses
- Added a new article on SANE nurse roles recognizing this vital specialty within the bargaining unit
📆 Contract Duration
- Agreement effective upon ratification, remaining in effect through July 1, 2028
🗳️ Next Steps: Ratification Vote
- A ratification vote will be scheduled soon date and time to be announced once details are finalized.
- All nurses will have the opportunity to review the complete agreement and vote electronically on whether to approve it.
