Bargaining update

Negotiations started virtually Wednesday, December 7, to open discussions. We emphasized that wages, staffing, and safety are highly prioritized among many issues we look to address. The team discussed concerns from supervisors regarding the apparent degradation of nursing in public health and our desire to address this at the bargaining table and in a meeting with Dr. Kahn and leadership soon.

We will share a comprehensive list of the issues you have put forward in the survey and local unit calls before our next meeting, where the team will go through the issues to develop proposals to present in bargaining. We want to give you one last opportunity to call out issues you face that need to be addressed in bargaining. Please contact the local unit officers or Nurse Representative Bret Percival regarding these issues.

Schedule of bargaining:
January 3, WSNA bargaining team meeting
January 10, 19, and 30 bargaining sessions Chinook Building

Lunch and Learn Calls:

We had an excellent turnout for the December 6 Lunch and Learn WSNA call. We heard many of you raise concerns about workplace violence and safety and the necessity of supervisors’ involvement in workplace violence prevention.

To help us address the issues and help find solutions, we need your help identifying specific issues, stories, and any opportunities you see to improve.

We realized that not all members of the bargaining unit were invited to this meeting and have asked the organizer to extend the invite to include the entire unit. Thank you, Julie Parker, for getting these going!

We agreed to change the future dates of this call to the first Wednesday of the month, the next meeting will be Wednesday, January 5, from 12:05 to 12:55 pm. Please reach out. if you do not have an invitation and would like to attend.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact one of the local unit officers or reach out to WSNA Nurse Representative Bret Percival at bpercival@wsna.org or by phone at 206-471-0876.
