Introduction

The General Assembly, held every odd-numbered year at WSNA's biennial Convention and open to all WSNA members in good standing, is the highest decision-making body within WSNA. Among its duties are considering and voting on proposed changes to the WSNA bylaws.

2025 amendments

The WSNA Committee on Bylaws developed 28 proposed amendments to the WSNA bylaws for review and consideration by the membership. These were discussed at the General Assembly on May 1, 2025, during the Washington State Nurses Convention. Following debate, the General Assembly voted to recommend the amendments for approval by the full WSNA membership.

All WSNA members have the opportunity to cast their votes electronically from May 26 – June 25, 2025, as part of WSNA’s elections.

Please note that these are formatted differently than in prior years. Proposals are grouped into motions covering similar subjects. Changes are included in detail along with rationales. While this document is lengthier than in the past, it should allow for a more efficient process at the General Assembly.

This red-lined document shows the current bylaws with the proposed amendments so that you can see the proposals in context.

Why this matters and how you can participate

These bylaws amendments will help shape the future of WSNA, and your participation is essential. All WSNA members will be able to vote on the proposed amendments electronically from May 26 – June 25, 2025, as part of WSNA’s elections. Reviewing the proposed changes ensures you are informed when casting your vote.
