Fighting for nurses since 1908

For more than 100 years, the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) has championed issues that support nurses and improve the health of individuals and families in Washington state — from early efforts to regulate nursing practice and respond to the first nursing shortages to health care reform implementation and the COVID-19 pandemic response.

Our history is a journey of generations of registered nurses who conceived and believed in a membership association dedicated to advancing professional nursing standards, defending social justice, and promoting respect and economic value for registered nurses. It was because of the unwavering dedication, commitment, tenacity, perseverance and never-ending hard work of these members that WSNA still exists today.
