Nurses at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle are fighting to make sure patients get quality care, and they need our support.
Nurses represented by WSNA have been negotiating a new contract for months. The biggest sticking point: staffing. Management insists the status quo is fine. Meanwhile, nurses are stretched thin, even having to skip meal and bathroom breaks so patient care doesn’t suffer.
Nurses are asking for community support. Sign our letter and demand that Virginia Mason agrees to contract terms that ensure:
- Nurses can take all of their legally required breaks without worrying about their patients' safety
- Units are staffed according to the staffing plan the hospital developed with nurses, not productivity metrics that come from corporate HQ
- Virginia Mason commits to following Washington's staffing law all day, on every unit, throughout every shift.
