Each year, the legislature convenes for a new session, and we use this opportunity to advocate for issues important to nurses and improving patient safety.
Legislative priorities
The 2025 legislative session in Olympia is expected to be largely focused on the state’s budget outlook. This year, WSNA is focused on several key issues directly impacting nurses’ ability to do their jobs safely and impacting access to care.

Legislative & Health Policy Council
The Legislative and Health Policy Council sets the annual health policy and legislative agenda for WSNA and plays an active role in reviewing and advancing WSNA’s legislative priorities.
