Flu vaccination policy update

We have heard from many of you about your concerns regarding PeaceHealth’s announced intention to require nurses to receive flu shots as a condition of employment. We want you to know that we hear you. While WSNA encourages all nurses to get vaccinated from influenza, WSNA also opposes any policy that mandates flu shots. WSNA’s position has been validated at PeaceHealth where the overwhelming majority of nurses who do not have medical or religious exemptions have elected to receive flu shots.

In light of the exceedingly high voluntary participation among PeaceHealth nurses, your bargaining team sees no reason to agree to a policy mandating that nurses receive a medical procedure against their wishes. We will continue to fight to protect the successful existing voluntary practice of preventing the spread of influenza through the use of voluntary flu vaccinations.
