Respect MultiCare Good Samaritan Nurses: Fair Contract Now!

We as WSNA nurses at MultiCare Good Samaritan are disappointed in management’s refusal to adequately address our concerns at negotiations. MultiCare must go beyond empty promises and hollow words: we need management to act for our coworkers, patients, and community.

Good Samaritan is the fourth busiest Emergency Department in the nation, has the highest admission rates in the MultiCare system, and is adding 160 additional beds to the campus with the planned expansion of the Dally Tower. We want to see these resources built so our community is able to get the care we need, but nurses will not continue working at Good Samaritan when they can receive higher pay and better staffing protections at other MultiCare hospitals less than 15 miles away.

We are calling on MultiCare CEO Bill Robertson to do the following to ensure that we reach a fair contract that respects nurses at Good Samaritan:

• Respect our Staffing Needs: Maintain the staffing resources we won in our last contract, instead of proposing to dissolve this language. These staffing resources are crucial to our hospital, and MultiCare's attempt to remove them is another example of management ignoring the staffing needs of nurses and patients.
• Respect our Value: Recognize the value we bring to the MultiCare Health System and our community by paying us competitive rates in line with local hospitals.
• Respect our Time: MultiCare has continued to delay negotiations, even though our contract has been expired since April 1. Management has walked out of bargaining, refusing to explain their rational for rejecting our proposals. Come to the bargaining table without delay and respect the time we've spent trying to reach a fair deal.

We are proud to serve the area we live in, and want to continue to do so. We are calling on our community to send these letters to MultiCare executives to demand MultiCare Health System fairly treats the nurses that run their hospital and give them a fair contract.
