WSNA members and staff participated in the American Nurses Association (ANA) Membership Assembly in Washington, DC, June 27-28. Among other actions, the Membership Assembly—ANA’s highest governing body—overwhelmingly approved a resolution, Defending Nursing's Principles and Protecting Our Patients. The resolution urges the ANA Board of Directors to take “immediate, visible, and sustained public positions” in opposition to federal policies that pose threats to nursing and patient care. It declares that “ANA must directly articulate the profession’s strong opposition to these threats and reaffirm ANA’s commitment to equity, patient-centered care, public health, professional autonomy, and evidence-based nursing practice.”

The resolution was presented by WSNA President Justin Gill and submitted by WSNA along with 14 other ANA affiliates.
