WSNA nurses at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane volunteered to host the medical tent for Heroes Homestead to support their annual 5k Heroes Walk on April 27.

Heroes Homestead is a nonprofit that supports veterans. The Heroes Walk, they explain, "brings awareness, solutions, and builds a connected community to end veteran suicide and homelessness by providing resources for wrap around care for the whole veteran and their family or support system."

WSNA Nurse Representative Allesondra Machorro proposed partnering with this event to the Holy Family local unit officers. She said they were all in. Their inspiration for the event was Holy Family ER nurse and veteran Sean Moser.

WSNA supplied the medical tent, and the Holy Family local unit paid for 12 registrations for members to walk or run the event itself.

According to Heroes Homestead, the event raised $35,000.
