In appreciation of your work

The following email was sent to WSNA by Saudia Yhann, a nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH), and approved by her for posting.
Dear WSNA,
This June, I celebrated 30 years at SCH, all in the NICU. I have seen so many changes in the nursing arena at SCH and recently, have been ruminating on them.
That’s 10 contracts over the 30 years? It seems like it’s always been a fight to get our battles won. Although earlier on there’ve been years when I’ve griped over the membership dues, I’ve never failed to see and appreciate the work done by our reps.
I’d like to give my appreciation to all the WSNA leaders, past and present, who’ve fought for our nurses, stood with us in personal disputes and supported the battles for better staffing, equitable pay and flexibility to name just a few issues. It takes strength and determination to give up time to support your peers.
Thank you for all the years of support. Thank you for the gifts and recognition during Nurses’ Week especially when, some years, we felt forgotten.
Thank you for the hard work you’re doing today to ensure a fair contract for all SCH nurses. Thank you for always being willing to go “back to the bargaining table.”
Thank you for giving up your time to make a difference.
I so appreciate the work you do and the time you give.
Saudia Yhann, R.N,
NICU
P.S. - In June, I took WSNA with me on the Camino walk in Spain while keeping abreast of the WSNA work at home.
