Nurses finally have a new contract with PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center after rejecting a previous proposal two months ago.

The result of the vote, announced Friday, May 23, is a positive outcome for the hospital, which has been locked in negotiations with three unions, including nurses, for months. The new contract will be in place between June 2025 and March 2028.

“I can’t say how grateful I am to see the true democratic process here,” said Jared Richardson, nurse representative for the Washington State Nurses Association. “When workers stand shoulder to shoulder, we can make real changes.”
