UW Medical Center nurses vote in favor of fair share membership language

A vote to add fair share membership language to the UW Medical Center (UWMC) nurses’ contract passed by a large margin. The voting was done online, from June 28 to July 7, and the new policy has already gone into effect.

Prior to the implementation of fair share membership language, membership to the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) was optional, and non-members were not required to pay for the representation they received.

Fair share membership language requires nurses who choose not to be full members to pay a reduced membership to the WSNA.
