We’ve utilized your pre-bargaining survey responses, grievances, and workplace issues to negotiate in 15 sessions with the County for over 8 months. If that sounds like a lot, you are right! You may know that not ALL the action happens at the table. In fact, the many staff nurses that are participating in our calls to action have made the critical difference in moving the County. We are continuing to escalate to the next level by engaging with the nurses AND the public because the County has not moved far enough on our top priority issues.

Each of you still has a part to play. We must take stronger actions to reach an agreement that your team can recommend to the voting membership. These strenuous efforts and your contract belong to the approximately 225 staff nurses in every division, work site, FTE or classification.

Here is the breakdown so far:

Nurses wearing I Support My Bargaining Team stickers.

Share your stories AND My years of experience deserve to be recognized- 2 actions used at the table.

Nurses Week dinner with your team and drawing prizes of gift cards, for fun and appreciation 😊

Assignment Despite Objection submissions shared at the table to emphasize the staffing deficits are ongoing at the Jails and Juvenile Detention

A delegation of your WSNA team members delivered a group address to the King County Board of Health

Internal WSNA petition launch for the staff nurses The Seattle King County Nurses stand united! (this is still going!)

Team members met with King County Council member Teresa Mosqueda.

Launch of the public petition King County Nurses Deserve Respect. Solidarity messages from the public displayed and shared at the table. Still going!

Support placards for car windows and selfie/group pics: we share at the table and on social media. Still going! Send pics to our Nurse Rep tbarnes@wsna.org.

WSNA social media for the staff nurses. Do not miss this one!

In 2023, we launched our Instagram page to engage the staff nurses, inform the public by sharing updates, videos, and connect with other WSNA bargaining units. In our Instagram bio, you can click on BOTH the public support petition to share with friends, family and neighbors AND the internal staff nurse petition. This is a  quick and easy way to reach our goal in our plan to WIN https://www.instagram.com/phskc_staffnurses/.

Not on Instagram? No problem! Here are the links to:

  1. Sign the internal WSNA petition for the nurses if you have not signed, already: https://forms.office.com/r/kZ8GykEZKZ
  2. Then…click on the public petition and share with the public, friends, family and neighbors: https://forms.office.com/r/hd35QBFXj3

We are NOT done and will continue this campaign. Stay tuned for MORE actions and details for our upcoming virtual Sip n’ Chat sessions with your team members next week.

In solidarity,
