It's Time to VOTE to Elect New WSNA Officers and to Modify the Meal and Rest Break Waiver Agreement

On July 28, 2026 the nurses at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Rehabilitation hospital will vote to elect new officers and to modify the meal and rest break waiver. The candidates for WSNA leadership offices are as follows:

  • Chair - Avante Groseclose
  • Vice Chair - Anna Pyfrom; Sabina Karanja; Cathy Muita
  • Secretary/Treasurer - Cordula Mote; Heather Wantz
  • Grievance Officer - Cordula Mote; Sabina Karanja; Heather Wantz
  • Membership Officer - Ann Gitau; Cathy Muita; Shauna Graber

As for the changes to the Meal and Rest Break Waiver, the hospital approached the union about changing the contract language to explicitly allow nurses to combine a meal period and break period. The hospital also asked that WSNA members be allowed to take a lunch break in the longer statutory window, rather than between the 3rd and 7th hours of work. WSNA recommends the changes, now you get to vote!
