Happy Labor Day
Posted Sept. 3, 2026
Happy Labor Day to all the incredible nurses who work tirelessly to care for others. Your compassion, dedication, strength, and countless hours of hard work make a difference in so many lives. Thank you for everything you do each and every day. Wishing you a well-deserved and happy Labor Day!
King County union members are invited to celebrate Labor Day at Angle Lake Park in SeaTac.
Labor Day has been a time for the labor movement to come together to celebrate, build solidarity, and honor the power of unions. We hope you’ll join us on Monday, September 7, from 11 am to 1 pm at Angle Lake Park (19408 International Blvd., SeaTac) for a day of community, food, and family fun.
Free food and drinks will be provided. There will be games, prizes, a splash park for kids, and access to the swimming beach.
Mark your calendars for Union Steward Training. Wednesday September 16 at 7 PM - Virtual Meeting. Come find out what being a union steward is all about. It's also a great refresher for those who've already had the training. Register to receive the meeting link.
Hospital Staffing Committee Meeting - ADOs (Staffing Complaint Form)
Your WSNA union leaders meet monthly with Evergreen Healthcare and EHCS leadership to discuss staffing plans and staffing issues. The ADOs (Staffing Complaint Form) which you submit are discussed. The team determines if the ADO is resolved or unresolved. If unresolved, a plan is put into place to try to resolve the issues. You may attend the staffing committee meeting to address your ADO if you would like, but it's not required.
If staffing concerns are not reported, then we do not know the problems and therefore cannot work to resolve them. Please take just a few moments to fill out the ADO form online. The concerns may include issues such as understaffing to the matrix, high acuity/intensity patients loads, missed breaks, use of break buddies which may double a nurses assignment, charge and break nurses pulled to take patient assignments, workplace violence, equipment or supply issues affecting your ability to do your job and more.
Fill out the section which asks how many RNs and CNAs/Techs are expected and how many are actually working, so we know if the staffing plan is being followed or not.
Let us know also when you are missing your meal and rest breaks on the ADO form. If break nurses are being pulled to take a patient assignment, we need to hear about it. When you have to double your assignment because you have to cover your nurse co-worker for a break, your unit is out of staffing compliance and you need to report this on the ADO.
