On July 13 and July 14, we completed our first two days of concentrated bargaining with Providence Holy Family Hospital. We secured tentative agreements including sexual assault nurse examiner language and a premium for exams performed, increases in standby pay, night shift differential, and preceptor pay. We rejected management’s proposals for changes to our health benefits, changes that wouldn’t guarantee nurses the ability to take a sabbatical, and management’s proposal to eliminate the 16% option for our supplementals.

WSNA submitted new contract language asking Holy Family to commit to a dedicated Workplace Violence Committee on campus with nurse representation to ensure our voices are heard on these issues. We are hopeful they will return a tentative agreement on this.

Wage proposals continue to be discussed. The team spoke to many experiences today including short staffing, chronic gaps in scheduling, increased traveler usage, nurses leaving Holy Family, personal and shared stories of workplace violence and assault from patients. We continue to fight for each nurse at Holy Family Hospital and stand united in this effort to obtain a successor contract and raises significantly before expiration. Your officer team returns to the negotiating table August 2 and 3.
