Six-Month interim contract with wage increases retro pay from February 1,2020

In these scary times, we are so grateful to you, our members, and all the work that you are doing on the “front lines.” The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly changed the way we are all living our lives. This includes your bargaining team. We hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy.

Your negotiation team has been working for you behind the scenes. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, negotiations on a new contract have been delayed. While we all know that we have important work to do to turn First Hill into a hospital that can recruit and retain dedicated nurses, that work will have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, your team has agreed to an interim contract period of February 1,2020 through September 30,2020. This contract will include a 3% raise that will be retroactive to February 1, 2020.

Normally when your bargaining team reaches a tentative agreement on a new contract, the team brings the agreement back to the membership for a ratification vote. Due to the pandemic, the Executive Committee of the WSNA Cabinet on Economics and General Welfare has ratified interim contract with Kindred First Hill (in lieu of a membership vote). The interim contract is now in effect.

We look forward to getting back to the table with Kindred in a few months to begin the hard work of negotiating a contract that is fair to First Hill nurses.
