In a unanimous vote, the NICU ratified an MOU to add per diem nurses to their current bargaining unit. The NICU per diems are the first of the MB and TG per diems to organize, a huge victory for per diems in these facilities. The MOU not only strengthens and increases the NICU bargaining unit, it provides just cause, progressive discipline, access to the grievance process, and a sense of safety to more nurses. It also secures any rights and privileges that can be stripped away whenever the per diem policies are updated or changed.
