Their hands are off our PTO! We have a tentative agreement!

We have reached tentative agreement on a contract! We will send out information on the ratification vote details as soon as we have it. Here are the highlights (a full list of all changes will be sent to the bargaining unit shortly and a complete version of the proposed contract will be available at ratification):

  • We kept our PTO! Our voices and visibility made this happen.
  • Raises of 4%, 3.75%, and 3.5% for the next three years.
  • EIB can now be accessed after one missed shift.
  • Time and a half for the entire shift following fewer than 10 hours rest from the previous shift.
  • MLK day is a now recognized holiday.
  • An increase in break relief staff by 50% and breaks will now be an agenda item at every Staffing Committee meeting..
  • Improvements in the amount and flexibility of bereavement leave.
  • Current per diems will not have weekend requirements.
  • Increase to standby pay.

The bargaining team is recommending a vote of YES. Our plan is to hold a vote at Overlake on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Poll and contract details will follow in subsequent emails. Only WSNA members in good standing can vote, so please join if you have not already. More members, more strength.

Thank you to those of you who have donated PTO to support the negotiation efforts. We know PTO is in short supply, but we could use some additional hours if you have hours to spare. If you can, please return the attached form to our nurse representative Sam Scholl sscholl@wsna.org. Even one hour helps.

You can see our video testimonies and bargaining updates on our private Facebook group. Contact Zach Seikel, WSNA Organizer, if you need an invitation to join zseikel@wsna.org, all Overlake Nurses are welcome.
