Our team worked late into the night trying to negotiate a contract we could proudly recommend to you. Despite our best efforts, PeaceHealth continues to demand takeaways that are unacceptable. Here's where things stand:
Cutting Our PTO Cap
PeaceHealth wants to reduce our PTO cap from 600 hours to just 1.5 times a nurse's annual accrual.
Changing Shift Differential Rules
Management is trying to force changes that take away provisions of our contract to get wage increases PIMC nurses deserve.
PeaceHealth needs to see that PIMC nurses won’t accept takeaways. We are ready to stand strong and united for a fair contract.
We are currently scheduled to resume mediation with Management on Thursday, July 10. With the contract expiring on June 30, we know nurses will have questions about what your rights and protections are while we continue negotiating for a new contract. Please know this: Management is obligated to “maintain the status quo” (i.e. keep wages and working conditions the same as they are now) while we continue negotiating. We will continue to share updates, and appreciate everyone’s solidarity as we continue to reject takeaways and bargain a fair contract.
The support has been incredible—nearly every nurse signed the pledge to join the informational picket! If you’re wondering what an informational picket is, check out our FAQ.

Let’s celebrate our strength and unity on Independence Day!
This year’s Friday Harbor 4th of July Parade theme is “Hometown Heroes”—and who deserves that recognition more than the nurses of San Juan Island?
Let’s show our island—and PeaceHealth—how much heart and strength our nurses have!
Contact a bargaining team member and sign the pledge to join us in the Parade!

If you find yourself in a situation that you believe creates unsafe conditions for patients or for you, you should complete a Staffing Complaint / ADO Form as soon as possible.
By completing the form, you will help make the problem known to management, creating an opportunity for the problem to be addressed. Additionally, you will be documenting the facts, which may be helpful to you later if there is a negative outcome.
WSNA also uses your ADO forms to track the problems occurring in your facility. When you and your coworkers take the important step of filling out an ADO form, you are helping to identify whether there is a pattern of unsafe conditions for you or your patients at your facilities. This information is used by your conference committee, staffing committee, and WSNA labor staff to improve your working conditions.
As a union member, you have the right to have a representative present in any meetings with management that could potentially lead to disciplinary action against you.
If called into a meeting with management, read the following to management when the meeting begins:
If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, I respectfully request that my union representative be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion.
Find out more about this crucial right and how to exercise it to ensure your fair treatment and protection.
