Contract negotiations update

On Nov. 16, 2021, your contract negotiation team met with hospital management for our sixth contract negotiation session. Although we remain far apart on some issues on the bargaining table, movement was achieved. Most notably, management increased its wage proposal from 2% a year to 2.5% a year. Additionally, management:

  • Is now demanding that the acute care float pool be dissolved by attrition.
  • Now demands that RNs face possible discipline if they don't report to work within 45 minutes of being called back if they live in Cowlitz county.
  • Hasn’t addressed our incentive pay proposal.
  • Hasn’t adequately addressed our concerns with staffing and floating.
  • Has verbally stated that they want “parity” regarding Clinic wages, but we have yet to receive any proposals that demonstrate this.

  • Agreed that formal documentation of performance concerns must be in place before removing a charge nurse.
  • Agreed that work in advance of shift shall not apply to call back.
  • Agreed that 4 days of bereavement pay will be provided in the event of a qualifying death.

Please sign our petition and share with your friends, family and community members. Post it to social media and distribute far and wide. We need to let hospital management know that the community stands with their nurses! Members of the negotiation team have access to physical copies if you prefer to physically sign.

We meet next with management on Nov. 19.

Please display the negotiation car signs in your car window while at work. Also, please remember to wear your WSNA badge holders, stickers and buttons to show your support for a fair contract!
