WSNA is partnering with Seattle Children’s

Children’s approached WSNA asking us to partner with them to help alleviate staffing issues, and to find ways to improve morale and show appreciation to the nurses. We agreed on a one-question survey for nurses allowing you to state your ideas as to how they can show their appreciation of the nurses. What would you want? Retention bonus? Improved incentive pay for extra shifts? More sick time? Nurses week restored? One free Starbucks every shift?

We encourage all RNs to participate and note that entering your name is optional. After the survey closes Sept. 17, WSNA will meet with leadership and review the results and take action based on the results. We will also ask them to share all results for full transparency.

Take the survey now! https://forms.office.com/r/GzJCZZe3Nt

Vaccine mandate

Per the Governor’s recent proclamation, all healthcare workers in WA must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, 2021, or be separated from employment, unless the employee has an approved religious exemption and accommodation, or a medical disability accommodation. We are told that most SC RNs are fully vaccinated and that the employer has proof of such vaccination because of receiving the vaccine at work. If you received your vaccine elsewhere, you must submit proof of the vaccine to the employer prior to Oct. 18.

We are bargaining with Children’s over the effects of the mandate, meaning how it will be implemented. This should not affect those of you who are already fully vaccinated. If you are not yet vaccinated, you should take action as soon as possible. That means getting your first Moderna dose no later than Sept. 6; your first Pfizer dose no later than Sept. 13, or submitting your request for accommodation as soon as possible.

Petition for full transparency

If you have not yet added your name to our petition calling for Children’s to release the full report on racism, please do so now. Share this link with all of your coworkers, as it’s not just for RNs!
