Time to Turn Up the Pressure
Posted Aug 15, 2025
It’s Picket Pledge Time!
We need to hear from every nurse at Seattle Children's Hospital. Please fill out the online Picket Pledge now.
In case you missed it, here’s a quick overview of the challenges we are currently facing:
- Where’s Bonnie? While we’ve made some minor progress at the bargaining table, Bonnie is still absent.
- Anti-Union Stance. Management is proposing language that would make paying union dues more difficult. They’re insisting that union bulletin boards don’t need to be placed in every break room and are suggesting stricter access rules for union representatives compared to general public. This raises questions about what they don’t want us to know and what they wish to keep hidden from our representatives.
- Attacks on Legal Recourse. During our last bargaining sessions, Seattle Children's Management brought back a proposal we had previously rejected. This proposal seeks to strip nurses of our rights to pursue legal action when the hospital violates our rights and would generally reduce our ability to collectively address these issues.
Our upcoming bargaining days are crucial, and we are diving deeper into the core issues. Although we have yet to receive any economic counterproposals from management, we anticipate hearing from them as early as August 28 and 29, which are our final scheduled days before the contract expires.
Given the current management proposals that seem to aim to limit transparency, it is more vital than ever for you to witness bargaining firsthand. We encourage you to come and observe.
