Happy Nurses Day, Nurses Week, Nurses Month, Nurses Year!

The incredible way in which nurses have responded to the daunting challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic has been well publicized. Most of us are aware that the nursing profession is consistently ranked as the most trusted in America. In some areas, the time that people celebrate nursing extends past the traditional National Nurses Day on May 6 by observing Nurses Week. Others appreciate nurses for the entire month of May. Even more fitting, 2020 has been named the “Year of the Nurse and the Midwife” by the World Health Organization.

Today, the 12th of May, we celebrate Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Her reputation grew out of her work during the Crimean War. Public Health – Seattle & King County’s reputation will continue to be enhanced by our comprehensive and preventive measures we have taken during this war against COVID-19.

We have much to be proud of. Thank you to our WSNA members, for the exemplary work that you do every day, each week, for the entire month, and all year long. Your dedication inspires all of us.
