Contract Bargaining - Escalation Update
Posted Aug 19, 2025

Where we started. Where we are headed. Our plan to WIN in contract negotiations!
We’ve utilized your pre-bargaining survey responses, grievances, and workplace issues to negotiate with the County since January. It’s been 12 sessions and over 8 months. If that sounds like a lot, you are right! As you already know, not ALL the action happens at the table. In fact, your participation in our calls to action have made the critical difference in moving the County. We are continuing to escalate to the next level by engaging with the nurses AND the public because the County has not moved far enough on our top priority issues.
Each of you still has a part to play. We must take stronger actions to reach an agreement that our team can recommend to the voting membership.
Here is the breakdown of activity/actions so far:
- Nurses wearing I Support My Bargaining Team stickers
- Share your stories AND My years of experience deserve to be recognized- 2 actions used at the table
- Nurses Week Celebration with your team for fellowship, fun and appreciation 😊
- Assignment Despite Objection (ADO) submissions shared at the table to emphasize the staffing deficits that are ongoing in JHS
- A delegation of your WSNA team members delivered a group address to the King County Board of Health
- Internal WSNA petition launch - The Seattle King County Nurses Stand United! (This is still going. Please sign if you haven’t already.)
- Team members met with King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda
- Launch of the public petition King County Nurses Deserve Respect. Solidarity messages from the public displayed and shared at the bargaining table. Still going!
Support placards for car windows and selfie/group pics: we share at the table and on social media. Still going! Send pics to our Nurse Rep Linda Burbank at Lburbank@wsna.org.
