Negotiation Update

We met with management for our 4th contract negotiation session on June 21. We continued to address issues around Safety, Staffing, and Support during that session. Nurses are showing a lot of interest in these contract negotiations – and we need your continued interest and support. We will be looking to you, WSNA represented RNs, to help us get your messages to management as we work to get the best contract possible.

One of the issues we are addressing is adequate staffing related to meal and rest breaks. You are entitled to two 15-minute breaks in an 8-hour shift and three 15-minute breaks in a 12-hour shift. Are you getting all of your 15 minute breaks? Let us know – email Sue O’Donnell Nurse Representative at sodonnell@wsna.org.

We had a great turnout at our Local Unit Meeting on June 12. Thanks to those who were able to attend. And thanks to the nurses who have contacted us with your questions and comments. We will be holding additional meetings as negotiations progress and will keep you informed of when and where these will happen.

Our next negotiation session is scheduled for July 24 and additional sessions are scheduled in July and August. We have a lot of work ahead of us. We will get a fair contract by standing together to promote the welfare of our patients and our professional integrity. Ask your negotiating team members how you can support us in having our voices heard and getting that work done!

In solidarity!
