WSNA at St. Joe’s: News and Updates

A lot has been happening in the hospital, and we want to make sure you have the latest information. Keep reading to learn what is going on and how you can get involved.

Cafeteria Time Tomorrow, 2/3/2026

Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, your elected board and nurse representative will be holding cafeteria time from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Stop by to ask questions, share concerns, or just say hello. We will also have information available on how to apply for a WSNA Leadership Conference scholarship, along with some candy.

We hope to see you there.

Support SEIU 1199NW Lab Assistants and Phlebotomists

Our union siblings in SEIU 1199NW are facing proposed job cuts in the lab, including phlebotomy. We know that cutting these critical roles will harm patient care, delay services, and increase workloads for bedside nurses.

WSNA nurses are standing in solidarity. We have a petition for WSNA members to sign in support of protecting these essential union jobs.

Hundreds of WSNA RNs have already signed, and today is the last day to add your name.

Sign the petition and show your support for patient care and union jobs by clicking the button below.

Grievance Updates

We are finally starting to see movement on several long-standing grievances. Human Resources has begun scheduling hearings, and we are preparing to advance multiple issues, including:

  • Holiday PTO differential
  • Per diem scheduling (scheduled to be heard on 2/9 at 2:00 p.m.)
  • Individual grievances related to inappropriate discipline, job transfers, changes to working conditions, and use of educational funds
  • Use of educational funds to cover travel expenses (scheduled to be heard on 2/13 at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Pediatric resource premium

If you have questions about these grievances or would like to attend a virtual hearing, please contact Jared at JRichardson@WSNA.org.

PACU Restructure

The employer has formally notified WSNA of its intent to restructure the PACU. An initial meeting to discuss the proposed restructure is scheduled for 2/13, and we will share updates as soon as we have more information.

At this time, we know the proposal includes an increase in FTEs and does not involve layoffs. While we wait for additional details, we encourage nurses to review how restructures work under the contract by reading Article 11.5 of the collective bargaining agreement.

You can access the contract here:

PTO Scheduling

We have received many questions about PTO scheduling and have created a helpful reference PDF. This document is now available on the St. Joe’s WSNA website.

We have important work ahead of us over the next two years as we prepare for our next round of contract negotiations. That time will move quickly, and strong contracts are built through early engagement and collective action.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved and help shape our future together.
