Recognizing Our Outgoing Leaders
A heartfelt thank you to Rhonda Tull and Jennifer Hampton, who have chosen not to run for re-election. Rhonda and Jen have each dedicated countless volunteer hours to this union, helping push WSNA at St. Joe’s to new heights. Their leadership and advocacy have left a lasting impact. If you see them on the floor, please take a moment to thank them for their service.
Insurance Forum: First Wins and What’s Ahead
On July 23, WSNA and management held the first quarterly Insurance Forum, something we won in our latest contract. This meeting marked a collaborative step forward, with PeaceHealth’s Director of Benefits joining from Vancouver. Here's what you need to know:
- 10 dedicated care navigators are now assigned to PeaceHealth employees through Moda. When you call, you’ll talk to someone who knows our plan inside and out.
- Starting in August (exact date TBD), Moda will release a custom provider directory just for PeaceHealth members.
- Plan details for 2026 will be shared earlier than in previous years, with both virtual and in-person health fairs scheduled before open enrollment.
- Ongoing efforts are focused on making PH facility care more affordable.
Our next forum is scheduled for October, and we’re looking forward to sharing more wins as they come.
Hospital Staffing Committee (HSC): Speak Up and Be Heard
The HSC has two important meetings coming up:
- July 30: An ADO-dedicated meeting. If you’ve filed an ADO, your manager should be contacting you to attend and speak to it directly.
- August 6: A regularly scheduled HSC where we’ll vote on the 2026 staffing plans.
A few reminders about your rights and ADOs:
- You cannot be retaliated against for filing an ADO
- You cannot be told that only one ADO can be filed per shift
- You can file an ADO for any reason that impacts patient care or safety
We continue to push back on management’s attempts to sideline nurses in the staffing plan development process. Under Washington state law (RCW), the Hospital Staffing Committee is responsible for developing and overseeing staffing plans. Yet management continues to disregard that process and exclude nurse voices. We are committed to holding the employer accountable and ensuring that the process reflects the law and the frontline reality.
Text reminders with meeting links will be sent the day before each meeting. Stay engaged and speak up. Your voice changes outcomes.
In Solidarity
This election was more than a vote—it was a show of strength. With every action we take together—whether it’s electing strong leaders, standing up for safe staffing, or improving our insurance—we are building a more powerful future for nurses at St. Joe’s. Let’s keep organizing, advocating, and fighting for the care our patients and nurses deserve.
