Time to vote the wage increase agreement

Last January after TG ratified their most recent contract with great wage increases our WSNA team proposed to management wages be increased at SJMC to try to help retain nurses. In February we pressed the issue again and were told we would get a proposal in March. Management did in fact provide an offer to increase wages. That offer was on a compressed 25 step wage scale that would start the 4 % November increase now plus at least 2 ½ %.

While we did appreciate the offered increases, we also recognized that would mean no other increases for the life of our current contract, which would mean nothing more until at least Nov. 1, 2024. Our team advocated hard for every nurse at SJMC pointing out that is too long without a raise and will end up putting us far behind other hospitals again next year.

In the end we finally reached an agreement that provides their original offer to increase wages no later than April 16, 2023, and provide the additional 4% increase November 1, 2023, both on a compressed 25 Step scale.

We will be holding a vote to ratify this agreement. It will be an in person vote. No absentee ballots or proxies.

Vote:

Date: April 4, 2023
Time: 4 – 8 p.m.
