Our Union is Growing (soon)!
Posted Jan 27, 2026

Did you know our per diem nurses have been excluded from our union? Did you also know that per diem nurses are included in many other contracts including MultiCare Mary Bridge NICU and MultiCare Good Samaritan?
On Thursday, 1/22/26, at our bargaining table we asked MultiCare to voluntarily recognize our hard-working in-house per diem nurses under our TG contract. Since April 2025 we have been working diligently to meet and talk with all per diem nurses about their interest and right to unionize. An overwhelming majority of our per diem nurses have said YES and signed their cards!
MultiCare has not formally responded to our ask, but we remain hopeful they will do the right thing and recognize these nurses. These nurses do the same work as our full-time and part-time nurses and deserve to be recognized in our contract. When these over 100 nurses join our TG contract, it will increase our power by nearly 10% more nurses.
Meet one of our per-diem nurses, Danielle Sloan from labor & delivery, who read our letter to management asking for recognition.

“I have worked at MultiCare in various roles over the last 12 years and have been a registered nurse for 9 of those. I recently went per diem due to family needs and my schedule with my children.
Many of our per diem nurses work full-time hours despite being per diem. We have experienced significant issues on our unit with our holiday commitments, including management making last-minute demands that we work on a holiday. We’ve also been told previously if we didn’t like something to grieve it only to be reminded that we can’t.
We don’t like management making up their own rules. We should have the contract so everyone knows the rules and follows them. It’s our turn to secure representation and we are excited to join this contract.”
If you know any per diems who haven't been in contact with WSNA, please have them reach out to tgperdiems@wsna.org! We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to get their questions answered.
Keep an eye out for "TG 💙Per Diem Nurses" stickers that will be distributed on the units soon, and wear them in solidarity with our soon-to-be union nurse colleagues!
