NICU bargaining update

On 8/1/23 we met with management for our second day of bargaining the NICU contract. We offered a counter to their 53 page proposal that maintained most of the current Tacoma General contract language but made adjustments to acknowledge the new Mary Bridge licensure of the unit.

Our counter offer was not presented as a brand new NICU contract, but as an MOU that would remain attached to the current Tacoma General contract.

Our biggest goal is to make sure that NICU maintains the wages, hours, and working conditions that we fought for just months ago. Our proposal included language that protects:

  • Nurses from involuntarily floating to other units within Mary Bridge
  • Safe ratios
  • Full benefits to those who work a .6 FTE and are grandfathered into those benefits
  • Current wages and premiums
  • Seniority within our unit

Please stay tuned for an upcoming sticker campaign intended to tell Multicare that all of TG stands behind NICU. We are stronger together!
