United Bargaining Update:
Days 3 and 4

We’ve officially wrapped up Days 3 and 4 of bargaining, and we want to give everyone a quick update on where things stand.

These last two days have been frustrating. We continue to come to the table prepared, engaged, and ready to work toward a fair agreement, yet we are still waiting for meaningful movement on some of the most important issues. Thus far, Management’s rebuttal to our proposals have been rooted in systemic alignment across Peace Health facilities. Or one might say, “This is in alignment with Peace Health.” 

Here’s the current picture:

Compensation and Economics

We still have not received Management’s comprehensive proposal addressing compensation and the full economic package. This continues to be a major outstanding piece of bargaining. Our team continues to push for meaningful movement and the answers our members deserve.

Our Bargaining Rights are Under Attack

We are also seeing proposals that would take away our ability to negotiate over important issues, including our health benefits and retirement. These are critical components of our overall compensation, and we are continuing to fight to preserve our voice and our ability to bargain over these issues. This includes advocating for access to Tier 1 pharmacy benefits for employees in Skagit County, where Peace Health has declined to offer Tier 1 coverage, making access to affordable prescription coverage an important issue that we believe should remain vital to the bargaining process. 

We Keep Showing Up

The pace of this process has been incredibly frustrating. But our team continues to show up, day after day, and fight. We are at the table advocating for our members, asking the hard questions, pushing for answers, and standing firm on the issues that matter.

This process requires persistence and patience, but most importantly, it requires all of us to stay engaged, informed, and actively involved. The more we participate and stand together, the stronger our voice is at the table.

Its critical we have all hands on deck to send management a message the nurses at United mean business and are willing to do what it takes to get a fair contract.

United Nurses Support Island Health Nurses!

Your United General negotiating team members showed support for Island Hospital nurses on 9/23/2026 at the Hospital Board meeting. WSNA nurses at Island Hospital are amid contentious negotiations and we were there to show our unity! We are ONE!

WSNA Nurse Representative Transition

As of Oct 5, 2026 Jaclyn Smedley BSN, RN Lead Nurse Representative will be the WSNA Nurse Representative for United General. Jaclyn has been with WSNA for over 16 ½ yrs and during this time has represented units across the state of Washington to include Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, PeaceHealth Southwest, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs, and Health Districts to name a few! Jaclyn comes with a strong background in representing nurses for matters of collective bargaining as well as campaign/unit organizing. Jaclyn has been a part of the United negotiations from the beginning and will continue to fight for our valuable nurses at the negotiating table.
