Local Unit Meeting July 7, 2021

Attend one of the three virtual meeting sessions below to find out all about the contract changes you will be voting on July 9.

UWMC Montlake Team members will be present on the call as well as WSNA Attorney Linda Machia and Nurse Representative Ed Zercher to answer all of your contract questions and relay the summary of changes made to your Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Contract vote July 9, 2021

We will be conducting a ratification vote for the implementation of contract for period July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2023.

In order to vote, you will need to be a WSNA member in good standing (dues paying member). If you have not yet joined, do so today at https://www.wsna.org/membership and return to WSNA or scan and email to Nurse Representative Ed Zercher at ezercher@wsna.org.

All voting must be in person and will be conducted at the following times and locations:

0730-0900 Cafeteria Conference Room A, B and C

1000-1100 Eastside Specialty Clinic (Room location TBD)

1200-1300 Roosevelt Clinics (Room location TBD)

1430-1630 Cafeteria Conference Room A, B and C

1830-2030 Cafeteria Conference Room A, B and C


Please note regarding “Recruitment and Retention” Increase

This was a proposal that was structured by the employer and split an 8% wage increase over two years. The agreed-upon structure has this 8% placed into 3 categories. Those categories are a 1% wage increase effective July 1, 2021, a 5% “Recruitment and Retention Increase” also effective July 1, 2021 and a 2% wage increase effective July 1, 2022.

The 5% Recruitment and Retention Increase is essentially equal to a 5% wage increase and is in addition to the 1% wage increase July 1, 2021. This 5% “Recruitment and Retention Increase” is not a one-time, lump sum payment or a single increase that will go away.

Here is the actual language as agreed upon:

Section 9.1 Wage Rates.

Effective July 1, 2021, all step values of table BJ range 02 will be increased by one percent (1%).

Effective July 1, 2021, Table BJ, all step values of Range 02 will be increased by an additional five (5%) for recruitment and retention purposes.

Effective July 1, 2022, all step values of table BJ range 02will be increased by an additional two percent (2%).

The RN 3 scale shall be amended to reflect eight percent (8%) above the RN 2 scale at each step of the wage scale throughout the life of this Agreement.

We are thrilled to have been able to secure this economic package for a long overdue wage increase for all of the, exceptional, hard-working RNs at UWMC. Stronger together!
