The contract has passed!

On Friday, July 9, we experienced a massive turnout of RNs to vote on the ratification of our Collective Bargaining Agreement between UWMC Montlake and Washington State Nurses Association for the period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023.

This vote passed by an overwhelming majority. Despite the attractive economic package, the vote was not unanimous.

Thanks to all nurses who kept each other engaged, informed, and wearing WSNA blue on their units. Management indicated that they knew they were negotiating with the entire bargaining unit, not just those at the table. Now is the time to build on this engagement. If you are Unit Rep curious or want to learn about how ways to develop your bargaining power, contact WSNA Nurse Organizer Will Nesper 206-713-2443, wnesper@wsna.org.

I want to extend a huge thanks to all of the RNs that offered their voices and perspectives on all of the issues. I also want to thank the dedicated bargaining team consisting of your RN colleagues that spent hundreds of hours securing a fair and just contract for RNs at UWMC.

Your WSNA Bargaining Team: Teresa Wren, MIC ~ Doug Harper, NICU ~ Alexandra Mariani, 7NE ~ Mike Crandall, OR ~ Charles James, PACU ~ Erika Speckhardt, 5SA ~ Chris Jakubowski, Cardiac Procedures ~ Kaitlyn McDow, 5E

If you know or run into any of these folks, please thank them for their time and dedication holding Management accountable to keeping UWMC a great place to work.

In Solidarity,

Ed Zercher BSN, RN
WSNA Nurse Representative
