WSNA Contract Bargaining Update

Your WSNA team of registered nurses met with UWMC administrators and management for our fourth bargaining session on Wednesday May 5, 2021.

Your team presented counter proposals, as did the employer. The staffing crisis at the hospital has been discussed at every bargaining session.

Despite the fact that WSNA provided wage comparisons from other local Seattle area hospitals on April 7, the second negotiation session, the employer has not provided WSNA with an economic proposal or made a counter to our proposal. Instead the employer is waiting for the results of a survey conducted by Milliman Inc., a third party corporation. In addition, all takeaways previously proposed by the employer remain as active proposals.

We were also made aware that the employer recently sent out statements describing your “Total Compensation”. Be aware that these may be misleading in their effort to remind you all they do for you. Decent benefits do not pay your mortgage, rent or food costs monthly……fair wages do! We plan to discuss this more on our May 20 teleconference so be sure to join us!

Our next bargaining session is set for Tuesday May 18.

In Solidarity,

Your bargaining Team
Teresa Wren, MIC
Doug Harper, NICU
Alexandra Mariani, 7NE
Mike Crandall, OR
Charles James, PACU
Erika Speckhardt, 5SA
Grace Jones, 5SE
Chris Jakubowski, Cardiac Procedures
Kaitlyn McDow, 5E

It’s time to get informed and meet your WSNA Bargaining Team!

Your WSNA Contract Bargaining Team of registered nurses will host Local Unit Meetings for all WSNA represented RNs on Thursday, May 20.

Three, one hour-long meetings will be held via video teleconference at 8:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please join 10 minutes early so we can verify your status as a member of WSNA before being admitted to the chat room.
