Day #1 Bargaining Update

Gdsam team

Non-Economic Proposals Presented

Yesterday, your WSNA bargaining team of nurses presented the non-economic proposals to management, reflecting priorities that nurses have raised around safety, fairness, and work-life balance. The team started out strong, sending a firm message to management we are ONE with the nurses at Good Sam by presenting management with a letter of support on behalf of ALL RNs. To read the full letter of support, click HERE.

Key highlights include:

  • Contract clean-up and gender-neutral language updates
  • A voluntary PAC payroll deduction option
  • Improved union access and monthly rosters
  • Charge nurse protections to keep bargaining-unit RNs in charge roles and prioritize patient safety
  • Seniority and job posting fixes
  • Self-scheduling protections, including an 80% nurse vote and limits on forced moves
  • Clearer language protecting nurses during emergencies, call-back, and leave
  • Stronger nurse involvement in workplace violence prevention
  • More time (30 days) to file grievances should a contract violation occur

Management received our first round of proposals and has told us they will respond with a counter at a future bargaining session. Your team remains committed to advancing nurse-driven solutions that support safe care and retention.

Next day to bargain is March 4!

Negotiations Open House 3/6

We’ll have WSNA shirts and scrub caps, info on how to get more involved with your union, and blank signs for nurses to write messages of support for the bargaining team! We’ll also have more info on becoming a Union Steward/Contract Action Team Member, as well as our upcoming Union Leadership Conference.

Times: 7-9 am, noon-3pm, and 6-8 pm

Stop by and grab some food, talk with a team member, and get ready to fight for a fair contract that protects our patients, coworkers, and community.

Show your WSNA Pride on Blue Friday!

Wear your WSNA Blue on Fridays and negotiating days to show management that we’re united for a fair contract! If you need a WSNA shirt, reach out to membership office Ruth Gelbach at ruth.gelbach@gmail.com.

You can also purchase other gear at the WSNA store which is now open! Click here to learn more https://www.wsna.org/store.

Stay in the Loop!

As our contract negotiations continue, it’s crucial that every nurse stays informed on what’s happening at the bargaining table and beyond. If you’re not getting email updates from WSNA, check your junk and spam folders. Please make sure to stay subscribed to WSNA for important Local Unit Updates - unsubscribing to just one WSNA email unsubscribes you from all future updates. You can update your contact information here. Make sure you follow our Instagram, @gsh_wsna, or ask a coworker to add you to our private Facebook group.

Good Sam now has over 1000 nurses – if you see coworkers who are not on our FB page, make sure to send them an invite! Your officer team monitors the page to ensure that everyone who joins is a nurse at Good Sam, not a manager.

Together, in solidarity, we protect our patients, our community, and each other.
