New Nurse Representative at Benton Franklin

In order to better balance our workload at WSNA, we occasionally need to change our nurse rep assignments. It has been an absolute honor to work with all of you and to help facilitate change and achieve a phenomenal new contract!

A familiar face, Carmen Garrison will return as your nurse representative. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Conference Committee

May 8, 2024, 8:00-10:00 Mission Peaks. We will be looking at the new orientation and training program language.

23.1     Conference Committee.  The District and the Association agree to establish a joint conference committee consisting of three (3) employees including Association representative(s) and three (3) District representatives including the Administrator and/or a representative.  The purpose of this committee is to deal with matters of concern to employees.  Either the Association representative or the District representative may initiate discussion of any subject affecting employees covered by this Agreement. Both parties agree to hold Conference Committee meetings quarterly, the date for the next meeting to be set at the end of each conference committee meeting.  The agenda will be set not later than one week prior to the upcoming meeting.  The agenda will be emailed to all the members of the conference committee not later than five working days prior to the upcoming meeting.  Those matters reviewed by the Committee and any recommendations coming out of the Committee are advisory only.  Any recommendations that are not agreed upon by both parties are not subject to the grievance procedure.

5.7       Program Orientation and Training. Program orientation and training shall be provided to a nurse who accepts a new position in, or permanent transfers to, a different program. The orientation shall consist of goal directed education and training that includes the knowledge and skills required by the specific Program. The District will provide an orientation program and training for a newly hired and transferred nurses which shall include a combination of formalized instruction and practical work experiences. Newly hired and transferred nurses shall not be required to perform any tasks or procedures for which the nurse has not received training and orientation so as to allow the nurse to perform the assignment or task safely and independently. The District shall provide equipment that is necessary for nurses to perform their duties safely and independently. The District and WSNA will work collaboratively to develop an orientation and training program. Such work will be completed within ninety (90) days of the bargaining unit’s ratification of this agreement.
