Layoffs and Unilateral Changes in Staffing

CP 14 Closures

This morning, WSNA received notice from the hospital that management intends to close CP 14.  WSNA has already submitted a request for information and issued a demand to bargain over the effects of the closure including over a severance package for nurses that cannot find a new position or don't intend to seek a position in the hospital. If you would like to participate in the bargaining, please contact your nurse rep at sfrey@wsna.org ASAP so we can coordinate participation.  We know this is a stressful time for all. We have submitted a request to gather information so we can understand the impact of this closure and how to best support the affected nurses through this process.

IV Therapy changes

WSNA was notified of the hospital's planned, unilateral changes to IVT staffing.  To date, the hospital has not brought "proposed" changes in IVT staffing to the staffing committee which is required. The hospital is certainly aware there is an obligation to present changes to the staffing committee. The committee must vote with a 50% + 1 vote prior to implementing changes as was done in 2024 when the hospital also attempted to make drastic cuts to IV therapy.  The hospital has been put on notice that WSNA expects the hospital to maintain the status quo until when or IF the committee approves this change in staffing.

People Over Profits

RNs are being expected to do more and more with fewer resources and less staff.  Now more than ever, your participation is critical.  JOIN YOUR BARGAINING TEAM IN PUSHING BACK ON UNACCEPTABLE STAFFING AND OTHER TAKEAWAYS!
