Bargaining Action Reminders

Our next session of negotiations is tomorrow, Wednesday July 8. There are a couple of actions that we need to help support!

 Bargaining Day

There are a number of things tomorrow worth looking out for! First, if you are working, wear your WSNA shirt to show support for our bargaining team.

If you are off, you can still sign-up to observe negotiations tomorrow or at some point in the future. Here’s the link: WSNA at Virginia Mason Medical Center: RSVP to Observe Bargaining – Fill out form

Finally, we have our Sip-n-Chat Local Unit Meeting to talk about how negotiations went for the day and answer any questions. Stop by if you have time!

Date: 7/7/26

Time: 1800-1830 and 2000-2030

Break Relief Mini-Survey

One of our most important tools in negotiations is information. The bargaining team needs to know what is going on and what nurses care about. So, when we’re focusing on an issue, we’ll send out a Mini-Survey to get a crystal clear view on what’s happening on your unit. It takes less than 5 minutes, but it lets us convince Common Spirit to listen to our voices.

Our current Mini-Survey is about break nurses. How do breaks work on your floor? What do you want for break nurses? Let us know here:

There should be a QR code to the survey on your union bulletin board. So fill out the survey! And ask your coworkers to fill out the survey!

ADOs and Non-Nursing Duties

Recently, management has announced a plan to cut the custodial staff for the Emergency Department. They are expecting other staff to do all the cleaning. And they are not planning to increase staffing on the unit. This is unacceptable, and we need to show the hospital it is unacceptable.

Right now, our best avenue is through ADOs. That way management has to address the problem with us directly in staffing committee. If you are asked to perform non-nursing duties during your shift such as housekeeping, unit secretary duties, that take you away from patient care, please file an ADO. You can fill that out on a break or after your shift. Here’s the link to the ADO form:

You can also find this form on the WSNA website, or on the QR code on the back of WSNA badge buddies.
