Bargaining Update #3

We met for our third session on Tuesday, July 21. WSNA made a number of proposals including:

A proposal that the hospital provide an adequate amount of time compete online or in-person continuing education requirements.
A proposal to ensure you continue to receive your shift differential and other premiums such as cert, charge nurse, etc. regardless of the nature of the work you are doing.
Strengthening charge nurse language – training, patient assignments and other duties.
A cap on mandatory low census.
Meal and rest break language supporting break relief nurses for all shifts and units.
For those who were hired in 2023 or earlier, a proposal to return step increases to your hire date if you experienced a change in your step date prior to November 2023.
Wages – we made a wage proposal that keeps VMMC competitive and will serve to attract and retain great nurses. We also proposed increases to a number of premiums.
We rejected a proposal to eliminate pay in lieu of benefits.
We rejected a proposal to drastically change the grievance process.
We rejected a proposal to change the order of low census.
