Help Represent Nurses on the Hospital Staffing Committee

WSNA is looking for nurses interested in participating on the Hospital Staffing Committee. This committee gives direct-care nurses an important voice in staffing plans, assignments, staffing concerns, and potential solutions.

You do not need prior committee or union experience. What matters most is a willingness to speak up, listen to your coworkers, and help advocate for safe and effective staffing.

Let’s Talk About Health Insurance

WSNA would also like to hold an informal meetup with Whidbey nurses to discuss health insurance and other benefits. We want to hear what is working, what is not working, and what changes or concerns are most important to you.

Your experiences and priorities will help guide WSNA’s discussions with the hospital. Expressing interest does not commit you to anything—it simply helps us identify nurses who would like to participate and find a meeting time that works for the group.

We are also looking for at least one Whidbey RN willing to serve on the hospital’s Benefits Committee. This is an opportunity to make sure represented nurses have a voice when health insurance and other employee benefits are discussed.

September Union Meetup with WSNA President Justin Gill

The WSNA officers from St. Joe’s in Bellingham have invited nurses from several local units, including Whidbey Health, to their next union meetup:

They will be joined by special guest WSNA President Justin Gill.

Justin began his nursing career as an RN at St. Joe’s and has consistently supported nurses throughout Northwest Washington. He has routinely advocated for safe staffing and smaller community hospitals. 

These meetups are casual, family-friendly gatherings where nurses can connect, raise concerns, exchange ideas, and build relationships outside the hospital. This event is especially unique because it brings together nurses from multiple bargaining units. Whether you work in Bellingham or at one of our neighboring facilities, you are welcome. Come chat, meet colleagues, learn what is happening at other facilities, and share ideas about what may help at yours.
