Bargaining Day 11

Mares support team

GI nurses support the bargaining team: Ivan Munoz, Anita Clute, Kim Woods, Robin Wickert, Shannon Seagondollar

The bargaining team met for a full day with the employer yesterday. We had nurses from PACU and OR join us as observers. Discussions of weekend call, the process of sick calls received by the charge nurse vs central staffing, floating, the pros and cons of a dedicated charge nurse, status of RN resident, wage scale placement and how probation applies if a nurse changes jobs were among the topics for this session.

There were no TAs reached today yet we are closer on some issues than in past bargaining sessions.

The next bargaining session is May 14, 2024.

Become a voting WSNA Member today!

During caucus when the bargaining team was not meeting with Confluence, we talked about the importance of building our Membership at Mares. We had a good discussion around the benefits of WSNA membership and what opportunities that can bring as well. When you join, you make nursing stronger by adding your voice to ours. We’ll talk more about that in our next Newsletter.

For now, you can read more about the benefits of WSNA membership here. https://www.wsna.org/membership/benefits

*Member dues cannot be deducted until we have a full tentative agreement on our first contract and your bargaining unit votes to approve it. We’ll let you know when that’s coming. Until then, becoming a member shows management the team has your support.

Here’s what you can do:

  • On bargaining days wear your “I support the Bargaining Team” button, sticker or WSNA T shirt. These can be found on your WSNA bulletin board. Reach out to an officer if you don’t have your WSNA T shirt yet.
  • Take a picture with nurses on your unit and post it to our closed Facebook page:  Confluence Health Hospital- Mares Campus, tag us on Instagram:  @wsna_chmares or send pictures to jgalassi@wsna.org.
  • Remind your co-workers how important it is to support our union.
  • Read current and past updates on your WSNA Mares Local unit page. Search WSNA Mares anytime. https://www.wsna.org/union/confluence-health-hospital-mares

The WSNA shirts show pride and unity as we stand together to build a fair contract.

Bargaining team members and observers: Chris Gallup, Jim Chase, Caitlin Orange, Megan Baute, Lucy Clark, Waikele Frantz, Marshall Snoddy.

Be an observer

Do you want to come to negotiations as an observer? Let a Bargaining Team member know or text organizer Jenny, 206-707-2948. If you’re interested, we’ll be in touch to go over some guidelines. This is a great way to keep negotiations transparent and let Confluence know that we’re paying attention!

Call for Unit Reps

We want every unit to have at least one representative. There isn’t a large time commitment outside of work, and you’ll play an important role in our negotiations. Email or text organizer Jenny, to learn more about what being a unit rep entails and sign up for training!
