Bargaining Update - Day 2

November 13

We met with the employer for the second time today. We started the day with going over counterproposals with leadership. The theme of our proposals today was integrity; we proposed language that would go above and beyond the minimum requirements of the law.

“Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is looking.” – Sam Golden, Bargaining Team Member – IMCU

We had hoped to discuss break nurses today and were disappointed that a scheduling conflict on leadership's end prevented us from having that conversation. We are looking forward to having that conversation in our third session.

As part of our theme of integrity, we gave proposals on:

  • Workplace Violence – numerous proposed improvements to keep staff and patients safe at the medical center, hospice houses, and home site visits.
  • Staffing Committee language that would prevent a plan from passing without nurses' buy-in.
  • Subcommittees focused on home health, home hospice, and the hospice houses.

Our calls to action:

  • RSVP to join us as an observer in bargaining. Our next session will be Tuesday, December 16.
  • Follow us on Instagram at phsw_nurses
  • Join us in wearing your WSNA shirts on negotiation days and T-Shirt Tuesday to show your support for a fair contract.
  • Save the date for December 5 from 5-8 pm for a WSNA Holiday event, a local unit meeting, and a bargaining update in the auditorium.

In solidarity,

Your bargaining team,
