Kronos Repayments, HSC Updates, and a Change in WSNA Nurse Rep

Kronos Overpayments

You may remember back in 2022 when the Kronos payroll system was hacked, leaving many health systems scrambling to manually track hours for months. As a result, some nurses at St. Clare's were inadvertently overpaid. For the last three years, WSNA has pursued every available option to resolve this issue in a way that protects nurses from hardship. Unfortunately, the employer is now moving forward with repayment collections.

If you received an overpayment, you should have been contacted via email with instructions on repayment options, including the ability to set up a payment plan. If you have questions about your individual situation, please contact your manager. If you have broader concerns or believe your repayment amount is inaccurate, you can also reach out to your WSNA nurse representative.

Hospital Staffing Committee (HSC) Updates

The Hospital Staffing Committee met yesterday for its monthly meeting, and we are pleased to report that it was a productive and collaborative session. We reviewed ADOs from Ortho and PACU and voted to classify them as “in progress” while solutions are actively being explored.

We also heard financial updates from the hospital president, including news that the facility is expected to finish the year $8–10 million under budget—a positive sign for the stability of our workplace. Patient Experience also shared survey results showing that nearly every unit scored above average, a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and compassion that union nurses bring to our patients every day. These results reflect what we already know: union nurses deliver exceptional care and are essential to our community’s health.

A Change in WSNA Nurse Representative

Our current nurse representative, Jared Richardson, will soon be transitioning to represent Tacoma General. Jared has been a fierce advocate for nurses at St. Clare’s, and we thank him for his work and commitment.

We’re proud to welcome Janet Stewart as the new WSNA nurse rep for St. Clare’s. Janet brings over two decades of ICU experience at St. Joe’s and has spent the past four years supporting nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital. She is a seasoned nurse advocate who understands the challenges we face and is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with us as we continue fighting for safe staffing, respect, and fair working conditions.

You can reach Janet directly at JStewart@WSNA.org.
